henry's fork: part 2 - yellowstone national park.

We girls and the babies spent Friday in Yellowstone.  We saw geysers.
We spent time at Old Faithful lodge and enjoyed a picnic lunch.

We watched Old Faithful do her thing!  Afterward, Emily said she really wasn't that impressed - especially because it is built up so much!

We saw bison...

 and a nice 4 x 4 buck...
 and lots more bison...
and a bison really close to our car...   We also saw elk, my mom thinks she saw a bear, and I think I saw some bald eagles by the river.  Is this turning into a fish story???
These are the Teton Mountains.   Aren't they spectacular?
After driving through the park, we stopped in the town of West Yellowstone, Montana.  We bought everyone a Yellowstone shirt, which was hilarious, and then we grabbed some delish ice cream before heading back to the cabin.  You shoulda seen Clara.  Her Oma taught her to love ice cream and now she's an addict.  I guess she is my daughter!

The last part of the trip was Mom and Teenie (mainly Mom) struggling to throw the trash away in the bear proof trash cans.  Classic!

henry's fork: part one.

So, the Waldon clan went to the Henry's Fork last weekend.  The only bad thing about the trip was that we were sans Steve.  Still, it was a fantastic long weekend!  The first day, we left at about 5:30 am and arrived at our cabin at around noon.  We ate some lunch and then went out exploring.  We drove to Big Springs and saw huge trout, a muskrat, and lots of birds.  Here are some pics from Big Springs.

When we were done at Big Springs, we drove back to the cabin and decided to drive down our cabin road a little bit to see if there was any wildlife out and about.  It was THAT time of night.  We were thrilled when we saw this big guy right off the road about a half mile from our cabin.
He wasn't alone either.  He had a buddy who was bigger, but a little more elusive.

We headed back to the cabin to chill for the night.  Here are Auntie Em and Clara.
 Ben having his dinner.
 The vino isn't his!
Oma had a photo shoot with her grandbabes.

This is a pic of the cabin where we stayed.  It was perfect for us.  It even had an apartment above the garage where we stayed.  We thought splitting up the babes during sleep might be a good necessary idea.

It was a great start to our vacation!

Clara's first bike ride.

Oma has a really sweet bike!  A couple weeks ago, Opa came home with an even sweeter bike seat for the back of it!  We had to try it out!

 She looks so dinky!

Now we're working on finding a good infant helmet!

cousin love.

Ben loves to touch Clara's face - especially her eyes and mouth.  We were at the Co-Op when Ben discovered he could reach over and touch Clara's mouth.  It was so precious.

In the end, they decided that holding arms would be best.
