first snow of 2014.

We had our first snow and it didn't stop for about 24 hours, which meant we got a snow day!  Clara and I played all morning outside with our neighbor girls, and I shoveled three times!

It is a fun season in Clara's life, because she can remember many things from previous years.  So as soon as she woke and saw all the snow on the ground, she insisted we go out to play right away!  I had to convince her to take a minute to eat some breakfast first!

We have a little common area in our neighborhood with the slightest hill.  But it was perfect for toddler sledding!

It was a fun first snow, especially because I could hole up in my house for a good 2.5 days before getting out on the nasty roads!

I'm thrilled that we were able to buy a piano from my parents' long time neighbors Carol and Becky.  I've already made progress toward gaining back some of my long-gone skills.  Starting out nice and easy, though!

First book club with these girls - we missed Katie!

Halloween 2014.

Halloween fell on Friday this year, and I had a comp day from parent/teacher conferences.  So, since we had the time, Mom, Clara, and I trekked up to Lewiston to celebrate Halloween.

The kids all dressed as sea creatures: Ben was an octopus, Will was a shark, and Clara was a jellyfish.  Mom dressed in her Maleficent costume, and Teenie and I used green concealer and eye shadow on our faces to dress up as witches!

While we were up there, the boys just had to try on Clara's Elsa and Ana dresses.  They LOVED them.  I guess twirling gowns woo girls and boys!

Teenie and Steve live in a neighborhood that comes alive on Halloween night.  I've never seen anything like it.  The streets were crawling with people.  Teenie bought 8 big bags of candy from Costco, which is saying something!  The kids really got into it, and did a great job remembering to say "Trick or treat" and "Thank you!".  They had such fun just being together to celebrate the holiday.

Sadly, the day after Halloween, Clara came down with a yucky fever and stomach bug.  I took her to an urgent care mistakingly thinking she had strep throat.  But she puked on the way there in Oma's car, and again and again throughout the night.  Poor babe. Thankfully, she went the entire drive home without incident.  But boy was I on guard!

It was a treat to spend Halloween with cousins this year.  We've never had the chance to do that before, and the little ones just had a ball!  Hopefully we'll be able to spend some more Halloweens together!
