spring break field trip 4: camel's back park.

The next day, we headed to the north end of Boise to Camel's Back Park.  We played at the playground for a long time.  Then we had a picnic lunch.  And finally, we thought we'd try walking/hiking to the top of the hill.  The 3-year-olds did wonderfully!  Bill... not so much.  Teenie carried him the entire way up the hill.  But the other two were hiking pros!  It was so fun.  The park was swarming and the weather was wonderful.  So there were people everywhere, even at the top.  The kids kept on trucking, even when they got tired.  And Ben and Clara felt so proud that they made it ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP!

We snapped a few glory pics...

These are the same boys, I promise.  They just got haircuts as well!

I managed to get this adorable pic of Teenie and the boys!

And then it was Clara's turn to take a picture with her Mom...yeah, things didn't go quite as well!

By mid-afternoon, everyone was exhausted and even a little sunburned!  Here is Bill avoiding getting his diaper changed...little stinker!

It was another fabulous day!  Spring Break 2014 was off to a fabulous start!

spring break field trip 3: MK Nature Center.

After our picnic in the park, we wandered through the gate to the MK Nature Center.  This place is one of the best in Boise!  I just love visiting the Nature Center!

The kids did too!

See that big fish in the window?

We walked the trails outside, peeked in all the widows at the stream habitat, and looked over the bridge for the sturgeon and other fish.  Then we wandered inside.  The kids loved the horns/antlers, furs, taxidermied animals inside the center, and they especially loved this water system.  They could manipulate the sand and objects to change the course of the stream water.  They had a ball!

When we were finished at the center, everyone was ready for a nap (even us adults).  We packed our cars and headed home!  It was a fabulous day with Clara's cousins!

spring break field trip 2: picnic at Municipal Park.

We packed a picnic lunch to follow our trip to the zoo.  The kids were READY to eat!  They did well, and were finally allowed to go play at the playground.  We couldn't have asked for better weather.  It was just a lovely day!

Go Will!

Clara is thinking about eating something...  that girl...

Ben knew he had to chow down his yogurt in order to go play.  He obliged!

spring break field trip 1: the zoo.

Teenie and the boys came for the beginning of Spring Break this year.  My mom zipped out of town to Florida, but us girls and kids had some fun!

Our first outing was to the zoo.  Here are the kids checking out the fox!

And of course, no trip to the zoo is complete without a ride on the carousel.

The day was fun, but we pushed the kids a little and they were ravenous by the time we left the zoo.  Good thing we planned outing number 2 to happen right after we left Zoo Boise!

Clara's 2nd haircut.

The last time I trimmed Clara's hair, she was almost 1.  Now, she just turned 3, and it was time for another trim.  Her ends were getting pretty snarly and raggedy.

So we set up shop in my parents' backyard.

She sat perfectly still.  We talked about how some kids cry during hair cuts, but that it doesn't hurt at all so tears are silly.  She was so well behaved.  I snipped and snipped.  It isn't perfect, but it's better.

Here's an after shot at home:

All I have to say is that I'm thankful her ends have a little bend in them.  Otherwise, the hack job would be way more noticeable!
