So on the 22nd of August, Clara was 6 months old. Her stats were:
weight - 14 lbs. 15 oz. - 50th percentile
head - 17 inches
length - 26.5 inches - 90th percentile
The night before her six month Dr. appointment, she came down with a terrible bug. She vomitted all night and morning, so when we got her weight at the appointment, and she'd only gained one ounce since last month, I was worried. Clara's doctor wasn't worried at all - she mentioned that she's more mobile now, and she was sick with the flu - duh! And since then, I think Clara's grown beautifully. She looks just huge since three weeks ago!
This month, Clara has started eating solids like a little trooper! Her favorite food at 6 months is avacado and banana with a little rice cereal. She's also loving squash, sweet potato, carrots, and single grain oatmeal.
Clara still sleeps through the night, although when she was sick, she was up a lot and it took about 2 weeks to get her back on schedule. She sits all by herself without support for long periods of time - like at least 15 minutes. I'm amazed at how fast that happened! She loves chatting and making noise, especially in the car when Kurtis drives her to my Mom's house in the morning. She has taken up razzing - or blowing bubbles with her lips pursed. She especially loves to do this when I'm feeding her so she can spit food all over the place. Little stinker!
She still has zero teeth. We can see white spots on her gums, but there isn't any swelling or redness and she hasn't had discomfort in a while. I'm beginning to wonder if she'll ever get teeth.
At six months, Clara absolutely loves her Aunt Emily. I remember when Ben adored her too. There's just something about her that the babies love! Teenie and I refer to Emily as the babies' favorite person!
She loves to see little children and babies. We were at a wedding rehearsal dinner the other night and she just grabbed at a little 2 year old's face and smiled and squealed. She LOVES little kids! We look at pictures of babies all the time and she talks to them and giggles at them and squeals with delight!
The latest and funniest thing she does is bobs her head up and down, up and down. We can't figure out if she's dancing, or if this is how she is showing us she's excited, but it cracks us up! Tonight after her bath, she sat on the counter and looked herself in the mirror and just bobbed her little head up and down and giggled.
The girl delights us every minute! As soon as my contract time ends at work, I'm outta there so I can run and see precious Clara! Kurtis started a new job this month, so all of us are home by 5 each day and are able to spend evenings together. We can't get enough of Miss Clara!
Here are a few pics I took of Clara while we were in McCall. She was enthralled with her skirt and didn't want to look at the camera...but she was still precious!
Razzing...he favorite thing to do!
She's also been doing this crazy smile! This face is about halfway between a smile and a grimace. It is hilarious!
