We camped twice on the Secesh River this summer. The first time we camped with everyone in the Brooks family (minus Uncle Brian). It was a fabulous weekend, and we had the campground to ourselves (which you can't beat). We enjoyed fishing, cocktail hour, and great meals together!
The sights up there were pretty amazing, too!
The next time we camped at Ponderosa campground (not the one in McCall), we camped with our good friends the Tylers. Clara and Knox are only a couple months apart, and had a ball together! This trip was all about Kurtis putting in time to catch some salmon. The Secesh river dumps into the Salmon River only a couple miles from this campground, and he spent the days and nights chasing that tricky fish! Thankfully, his hours paid off!
This time, since the salmon were "running", the campground was plum full!
These were the two monsters he came back to camp with at dusk on Saturday night. We were all pretty excited! And then, Jess and I had the chance to be disgusted watching our husbands eat salmon roe straight from the belly of one of these fish. Ick!
(even Clara looks disgusted in this photo)
It was particularly nice to get a couple miles away from the crazy salmon fishermen who line the Salmon River during salmon season, especially with kids around. We loved camping in this part of Idaho, and I know we'll return next summer.
